Yes, most tattoo shops are open in the USA. However, there are some exceptions in California and Hawaii.

Most US states have re-opened their tattoo shops and other personal care services such as nail salons and hairdressers.

These re-openings come with strict guidelines implemented to protect customers and staff from contracting Coronavirus, including a ten-person maximum in store and other social distancing measures.

COVID-19 tattoo shop guidelines in the US

COVID guidelines are often a variation of the following minimization and liability waiver measures that can be found on shop websites or releases:

  • All customers will be required to wear a mask
  • If you do not have a mask, you can get one or may be refused service
  • No touching anything unnecessary in the store, with regular cleaning of surface areas and equipment
  • Subjects only behind the counter area, and in some cases, parlor waiting rooms are closed for friends and family
  • Minors must be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian

Tattoo shops will sanitize your hands and take your temperature. If your temperature is too high you will be asked to come back after rescheduling for another time.

It is also highly likely you will need to answer the following questions and sign a release of liability for the virus.
