Walker Slater Tailors To Open London Flagship

New Store And Premium Line Could Kick Start Expansion

Scottish tailoring firm Walker Slater plans to use the opening of its flagship store in Covent Garden to launch a new trend-driven menswear line.

The 1,500sq ft space on Great Queen Street, due to open later this year, will be the tweed specialists’ second outlet in the capital.

Menswear will make up 80 per cent of the stock inside the single-storey shop, which will be added to by a premium range in February 2015.

“It will have a more fashion-led feel, rather than our traditional, artisan mainline,” said brand manager Vixy Rae.

Founded in 1994, Walker Slater sells clothing, accessories, shoes, tailoring and accessories from its three existing stores in Fulham Road and two in Edinburgh, as well as online.

Prices start around £65 for shirts, £145 for coats and £245 for suit jackets.

The launch of a more modern collection follows the likes of Moss Bros, which recently unveiled its London line to attract a younger customer.

A move to the district cements plans to turn Covent Garden into a male shopping hub, as reported earlier in the year.

Bosses at Walker Slater have already confirmed a successful run in central London could lead to further expansion both in the UK and Europe.

The new Covent Garden store will open this September.
