TJ Perenara’s 5 Tattoos & Their Meanings

Thomas Tekanapu Rawakata Perenara, popularly known as TJ Perenara is a New Zealand rugby player who plays for the Wellington Lions in the Mitre 10 cup as well as for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby union as a Halfback. He also plays for the New Zealand National Team, the All Blacks. TJ has some pretty amazing inks on his body. Let us take a look at his tattoos and the meanings behind them.

1. Tribal Tattoo

Tattoo: The entire left arm of the player is covered in a large tribal design tattoo inspired by Maori Tribal ink.

Tattoo: The date, “VI.VII.MMXVI” is tattooed on the upper side of his left wrist.

Meaning: The date on his wrist represents August 6, 2016, when TJ Perenara played in the 2016 Super Rugby Final and won along with the Hurricanes where they beat the Lions 20-3.

3. ‘Skull and Tiger’ Tattoos

Tattoo: The upper side of the player’s right forearm contains a large tattoo of the face of a tiger on it. There is also a skull tattooed above the tiger’s head with a bird’s head and beak over it and wings covering its sides.

Meaning: The tattoo of the skull on his arm along with the wings is a symbol of freedom and independence. The tiger on his arm represents his personality as being strong and powerful, and also as a symbol of independence.

4. Woman Tattoo

Tattoo: The inner side of his right wrist contains a tattoo of the face of a woman on it who is also wearing a headband around her forehead.

5. Wings and Letters Tattoo

Tattoo: The backside of the player’s neck contains a tattoo of a pair of wings on it. The letters, “B, C, and O” are also tattooed in the mid of his upper back along with swirly lines beside them.
