TAG Heuer Carrera to Mark Jack Heuer's 88th birthday
Marking Jack Heuer’s 88th birthday, a limited run of 188 watches will honor its founder’s great-grandson using his favorite material, 18K rose gold. Calling upon the racing spirit of the 1970s, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph pays homage to the original gold series watch that Jack would present to Ferrari Formula 1 drivers.
Synonymous with two uniquely exciting worlds – horology and motorsport – during the 1970 TAG Heuer partnership with Ferrari, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Jack Heuer Birthday Gold Limited Edition recalls the decades-old ‘good luck’ gesture that is the golden watch.
Paying tribute to Jack’s symbolic birthday, the sleek design of the limited edition vintage Heuer Carrera is not just a vintage reissue, but rather a modern reinterpretation. Crafted using 18K Rose Gold, the 42mm watch conjures up the same gesture of goodwill as it did nearly 50 years ago.
Sporting two black, sunray brushed chronograph subdials at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, TAG Heuer applies a swath of new additions to this old school timepiece. The stylized 88-infinity loops at the center of the dial symbolize Jack Heuer’s 88th birthday sits beside the subtle seconds counter at 6 o’clock. There’s even a black alligator strap bearing Jack Heuer’s regal signature in a royal gold lettering.
Carving Jack’s motto of “time never stops, why should we?” on the underside, there’s a little bit of Jack throughout the entire construction. Equipped with the 168 component Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement, the limited-edition Carrera boasts a column wheel, vertical clutch, and an impressive power reserve of 80 hours.
Open for pre-orders from 19 November 2020; this exclusive tribute timepiece will be available in TAG Heuer boutiques and online in March 2021. Upon hearing about the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Jack Heuer 88th Birthday Gold Limited Edition, Jack was immediately touched by this incredible reimagining of his favorite watch.
