Posthuman Wardrobe Clothing: AW13

Posthuman Wardrobe AW13

“Every body persists in a state of being, at rest or of moving uniformly straight forward, except insofar as it is compelled to change its state by force impressed.” The above quote, taken from Isaac Newton’s first law of motion, was chosen by Posthuman Wardrobe to introduce its AW13 collection. London based pharmaceutical scientist turned designer Nimesh Gadhia is the man behind the brand, injecting his science based background into each and every collection. Gadhia earned his fashion credentials with stints on Savile Row for Ozwald Boateng and Vacher & Jacobs; this knowledge of tailoring is clearly evident in the AW13 range, which offers very architectural and structured pieces complete with clean lines, considered detailing and strong silhouettes. With the introduction of associate creative director Laura Jones to the label in 2010, Posthuman manages to successfully combine bespoke tailoring techniques with functional sportswear. The AW13 collection is casual and relaxed, utilising a neutral colour palette of white, beige, grey and black. Technical street wear is combined with traditional shapes and the use of modern processes (like twisted seams and panelling), leading to the creation of fashion forward garments that feature asymmetric lines, double coat hoods and folding. Wardrobe basics such as the Eject and Pathway tees are made from comfortable cotton jersey and constructed from panels of grey/beige. The result is a selection of structured t-shirts that have an almost futuristic sci-fi aesthetic, complete with the clean lines and slim cut finish the brand are renowned for. The fission trousers are one of the more memorable finds within the collection, made from a combination of fabrics and again featuring sharp lines and panel detailing. However, what really makes these trousers stand out is the fabric-blocking construction, with the back of the trousers made from grey wool yet the front coming in cream cotton – inbuilt quirk for those looking to effortlessly stand out. The collection will be available in stores and online from wolfandbadger later this year.
