Nudie Steady Eddie Heavy Japan Jeans
Denim Launch Heaviest To Date
Swedish denim brand Nudie has today launched what it claims to be its heaviest jeans to date, made from 18oz selvedge denim. Known as Steady Eddie Heavy Japan, the model has been produced using 100 per cent organic fabric in a limited run of 1,000 pieces. The manufacturing process comprises 2.6 metres of Kaihara selvedge as opposed to the standard 1.5 metres for non-selvedge jeans, one kilo of organic Turkish cotton, 2.45 metres of thread, six rivets and four silver plated buttons. Production time also includes a minimum of five days for cutting, sewing and inspecting the final product. Each pair comes with a specially created book and poster, wrapped in a Japanese towel known as a Tenugui and presented in a Unica box. Nudie Jeans creative director Maria Erixon said: “When I first laid eyes and hand on the uneven denim of the Japanese selvedge from Kaihara Mills, 13 years ago, I fell in love. This fabric became part of our dream and the Nudie Jeans love story. It is one of the main reasons we started this brand. We share a passion for the character and evolution of denim beauty. Something you learn to master over time.” Nudie’s Steady Eddie Heavy Japan jeans are available to buy online now in more than 50 waist and leg size combinations, priced at £230 per pair.
