Flowers are the most alluring aspect of nature. Not just wholly they are delightful and captivating to the eyes, but they also have a vital role in our daily lives. They commemorate love, support in misery, compliments in attainments and friendship, and much more. The existence of flowers in our lives activate happy feelings and liberate tension and anxiety. Furthermore, it holds beneficial medicinal properties and is used as a cure in Ayurveda. However, there are different types of flowers, each having its relevant characteristics, and significance. Dahlias are perpetual plants, that originated in Mexico and Central America. Dahlias bloom from midsummer throughout up to the autumn and the initial period of cold weather, providing a prolonged blossoming season.

Dahlias sprout and bloom best in a full-sun, radiant site. It is the national flower of Mexico since 1963. Dahlia shoot up in a comprehensive variety of colours and forms. There are 10 varieties of Dahlia flowers.

1) Single-flowered Dahlia

The blooms within this variety comprise a single assemblage of leaves on all sides of the Central disc.

2) Star Dahlia

In this group, the flowers are small, comprising of 2 or 3 strings of relatively tapered petals which are marginally curved inwards that spring up a cup on all the sides of the central disc.

3) Anemone-flowered Dahlia

The blooms within this group have a thick circular central disc of tube-shaped flowerets encircled by an outer ring of leaves.

4) Collarette Dahlia

The flowers within this group relatively have a similar appearance to the single-flowered dahlia, although there is a subsidiary ring of small petals(the collar) that are around fifty per cent of the length of the outer petal.

5) Paeony flowered Dahli

In this group, the bloom comprises a few strings of semi-twofold leaves encircling a central disc.
