Volcom x Skullphone Grimm Shoe

Volcom x Skullphone Limited Edition Collaboration

American youth brand Volcom has offered up one of its popular trainer silhouettes to receive a unique twist from street artist Skullphone. Famous for his repetitive wheatpasted prints, the eerie artist has united with the Southern Californian lifestyle label to create a limited edition piece of footwear. The brand’s ‘Grimm’ shoe remains similar to its original design. However, like the majority of Skullphone’s work, much of the detail can be found where it is least expected. Designed in New York City, the L.A-based creative references the city streets that made his work popular on the treads of the shoe, with the sole featuring his custom printed iconic skull and phone design. The upper retains an understated appearance, with the water-resistant black leather and moulded recliner foam insock increasing comfort. Partnering with Skullphone is the first project of its kind for Volcom’s footwear line. The brand, which was founded in 1991, has previously focused on apparel with past collaborations, including Posso in 2012 and a team up with Stone Age x APACHE in 2010. Limited to only 400 pairs worldwide, the collaborative shoes are available now exclusively in Europe from surf, skate, and music retailer Hardcloud.com, priced at £64.99. The shoes can also be found in selected Volcom stores throughout the US and Japan as well as online at Volcom.com/skullphone.
