Whether or not you have any Irish in you, you should probably wear some green on St. Patrick’s Day. You could just wear whatever you can find that happens to be green, like oversized novelty sunglasses or that old clip-on bowtie, but your run the risk of looking goofy instead of festive.

Plus, this sort of look might be fine for a parade or hitting the bars, but it’s not appropriate for the office. You don’t really want to be “that guy” do you?

You need to find a way to incorporate green into a smart casual look without going overboard. Your outfit should be perfect for the office and the pub.

This shirt has a mini gingham pattern, which is perfect for smaller men. It’s blue and green, so it goes perfectly with the sweater and dark navy chinos.

All in all, it’s a very cohesive color palette with plenty of green in it. Sure, you could wear some green chinos instead, but that might be a bit much.

I’m a bourbon guy, but whether you drink whiskey or beer, it’s always good to have something on hand for St. Patty’s Day.

If you’re going to be outside, perhaps hopping from one bar to the next, be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. In many areas, mid-March is unpredictable. It could be warm and sunny or cold and rainy.

Most umbrellas are so big they make me feel like a caddy on a golf course. I finally found this London Fog umbrella from Amazon, and it’s the perfect size. It’s also much more sturdy than the cheap compact umbrellas you find at the grocery store.
