Angelina Jolie, Assassins, and a Forest Fire Come Together in 'Those Who Wish Me Dead'
Writer and director Taylor Sheridan’s (Sicario, Hell or High Water) latest epic is the modern western Those Who Wish Me Dead. Known for his character driven scripts about everyday people who find themselves in extraordinary situations, this latest film looks like another winner.
Based on Michael Koryta’s novel of the same name, the movie stars Angelina Jolie as firefighter Hannah Faber. Stationed high above the trees in a fire tower in the middle of the Montana wilderness, her job is to watch for any signs of fire danger.
Instead, she comes across a young boy (Finn Little) who is being pursued by two assassins (Nicholas Holt and Aidan Gillen). When a massive fire begins to burn out of control, Jolie must use her wits and experience to keep the boy safe from the hired killers while outrunning the fire.
I’m pumped for this one, as Sheridan never fails to deliver, and seeing Jolie play a non-animated character and actually acting is fantastic. The addition of Holt and Gillen as killers and the always reliable Jon Bernthal as the local sheriff is another positive about this flick.
Those Who Wish Me Dead is being released in theatres and on HBO Max May 14.
