'The Forever Purge' Trailer Promises More Chaos Than Ever Before

It’s finally here! Since 2013, there’s been a new film in the Purge franchise just about every other year, and this summer The Forever Purge, which is potentially the final film in the series, is coming to theaters.

Taking place after the events of The Purge: Election Year, the Purge has now been made illegal, but that hasn’t stopped a new radical terrorist group from initiating the new “Forever Purge.” If the events of the previous films are a little fuzzy in your memory, the new trailer for The Forever Purge will remind you just how insane people can be. Check out the trailer below.

The Purge series began back in 2013 with The Purge, which was an immediate hit followed by two back-to-back sequels: The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year, which saw the legal end of the annual Purge. A prequel, The First Purge, was released shortly after with a twenty-episode television series following that. The Forever Purge is the fifth and apparently final installment in the series, concluding this nearly decade-spanning franchise. The official description of the film follows below:

All the rules are broken as a sect of lawless marauders decides that the annual Purge does not stop at daybreak and instead should never end.

It’s no secret The Purge series has been well received by both audiences and critics, and the premise of an “annual purge” is one of the more unique ideas to come out of Hollywood in the last decade, which is what makes this new film so interesting. What would you do if the annual purge just stopped, but people didn’t stop committing crimes? How would the rest of the world respond to America’s cry for help? The Forever Purge looks to answer some of those questions.

The film stars Ana de la Reguera (Goliath), Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico), Josh Lucas (Ford V. Ferrari), Cassidy Freeman (Longmire), Levin Rambin (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), and Will Patton (Falling Skies), with a script written by Purge creator James DeMonaco, who also serves as a producer.
