T. Lipop Menswear: SS14 Collection

T. Lipop Spring/Summer 2014

River Island collaborator T. Lipop has unveiled its latest collection for spring/summer 2014. Alongside business partner Eser Aydemir, founder Tom Lipop has created a standalone ready-to-wear line inspired by 1980s tailoring. Under the name ‘A Story for Tomorrow’ the collection also takes cues from popular Nick Love film, The Business. The SS14 range delivers a relaxed and effortless look, created by deconstructed tailoring and refined cuts. The British brand has taken a uniquely informal approach to what is usually a set style. This is aided by the collection’s use of fabrics, with linen and bamboo both featuring as key materials. A neutral palette is seen throughout, placing attention on the cut and silhouettes and highlighting the industry’s possible move away from striking colours in 2014. The brand appears keen to draw on the use of advanced technology. Worked into the fabrics, a ‘Nanobolic’ substance allows molecules attach to the fibres, creating a water repellent material. The futuristic addition is one that does not influence fabric texture or draping. T.Lipop became widely known in 2013 when it collaborated with high street retailer River Island for an exclusive capsule collection. The release was followed by an accompanying film, headed by the British Fashion Council. SS14 from the brand will be on display during London Collections: MEN in the Designer Showroom at The Hospital Club, from 09:00 till 19:00 between the 6th and 8th of January 2014. The line can also be found in Selfridges’ Bright Young Things selection at their London store, or online at theunconventional.co.uk.
