Roger Federer Releases His First Signature Shoe With On
Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players to ever grace a court. The 20 time Grand Slam champion has achieved it all on the court and is now making moves off it. Having previously worked with Nike and UNIQLO, the “Swiss Maestro” has teamed with sneaker brand On for his own signature shoe.
THE ROGER Pro has been designed for Federer to wear on his return to the court, debuting at the Qatar Open where the Fed beat Brit Daniel Evans in the final to claim his first tournament win in more than a year.
Two years in the making, THE ROGER Pro was developed by Federer and the team at On. The shoe was created using 3D scans of Federer’s feet, with the tennis shoe designed to fit the exact contours of the Fed’s feet.
“Tennis players put up to three times their body weight through a shoe during lateral movements,” says Olivier Bernhard, On’s co-founder and Innovation Leader. “These high forces demand extreme agility and stability. That’s what we worked with Roger to create. After so many years at the top of world sport, Roger has his sense of what performance should feel like completely dialed in. He can sense every small adjustment. [His] insight guided the whole project.”

The solid midsole is made from a high-density, high-performance foam that cushions the foot. The bottom unit extends on the outer side of the shoe, increasing the footbed to add stability and help with movement. There’s also a cage around the midfoot to keep the foot firmly in place during rallies.
THE ROGER Pro also uses Speedboard® tech, a carbon fiber material that cushions the foot and helps with movement. Normally used in On’s running shoes, it was adapted for the rigors of on-court action.
