Rick Owens Miami Store & Web Shop Launch

Rick Owens Opens US Florida Flagship & E-Commerce Site

Rick Owens has opened his flagship store in Miami in the same week the designer launched the fashion house’s first web shop. Both new stores offer Owens’ 2014 spring collections as well as pieces from the Parisian brand’s subsidiary labels: DRKSHDW, Rick Owens Lilies and Hun Furs. The 2,150-square-foot space, located in the city’s ‘Design District’, is the brand’s second outpost in the US, following from the launch of its New York location in 2008. The launch of the new e-commerce platform coincides with the relaunch of the Rick Owens website, which displays a sleeker front end, a minimalist design and improved navigation. The web shop houses Rick Owens’ menswear, womenswear, accessories and bags collections in one place for the first time. Speaking on the expansion, Owens told WWD: “A website is for places where we don’t have good representation”. The Florida flagship is designed to resemble an industrial temple, in keeping with the brand’s Gothic style, complete with a life-size wax sculpture of the 51-year-old hanging from the ceiling. The dark designer recently announced ambitious intentions to open another store in LA this year, with just two weeks to go before 2014.
