Puma x McQ Clothing: AW14 Collection
Puma x McQ’s first collection
Sports firm Puma has strengthened its ties with luxury fashion house Alexander McQueen, by collaborating with its McQ diffusion brand for autumn/winter 2014. Sticking to black and white colour ways, the debut clothing line blends sports and high fashion elements, pairing tailored outwear with basics. Varying textures and finishes add contrast to the pieces, which include leather panelled trousers, knitted jumpers and quilted jackets. According to a statement, the collection “merges McQ’s rebellious spirit and bold youth culture references with Puma’s athletic innovation”. The McQ Run Mid and McQ Run Lo trainer styles also feature, further bringing together sports performance with high fashion. The Kering Group-owned duo have established an ongoing partnership, first teaming up in 2005 through Puma’s Black Label initiative. They went on to release their first joint footwear collection in spring 2006, expanding to full menswear three years later. Designs on McQ’s side were worked on by creative director Sarah Burton who took over the position following McQueen’s death. Earlier this year, both brands unveiled two not for sale limited edition Puma King football boot designs, in the lead up to the World Cup. Puma x McQ AW14 will be available following worldwide release on 1st August. Stockists will include Flannels, McQ, Poste and Offspring, with price points yet to be confirmed.
