Pretty Green AW15 Black Label Collection

British menswear’s current dalliances across the Atlantic are nothing new. Back in the 1960s, bands like the Kinks, the Rolling Stones and the Who stormed the American charts, dragging the UK’s film and fashion with them. Now, the music and rivalries inspired by this British Invasion find new form in Pretty Green’s AW15 Black Label collection, ‘Milk and Honey’.

The occasionally schizophrenic line encompasses everything from the British military to mod tailoring to Beach Boys florals. But for a way to rep these islands’ biggest musical export, we’d steer your attention to the overcoat and pea coat, inspired by those worn by the Beatles for their first US tour. Mop tops optional.

This season Black Label also delivers an updated version of the classic Pretty Green ‘Fool on the Hill’ coat. The Carbury coat, inspired by the British military greatcoat, is made from a wool twill and features a black faux fur lining and laser cut leather trim to the cuff and epaulettes.

Tailoring for the season comes with several unique twists. Checks have been reworked in deep tones to create a distorted Prince of Wales motif, while rock ‘n’ roll rebellion is found in the form of a tonal leopard jacquard tuxedo complete with grosgrain silk lapel.

The whole collection is tied together with a unique floral design developed in-house and inspired by The Beach Boys’ Wild Honey album cover artwork. The hand-drawn pattern appears on shirts, tailoring and accessories but looks best on the single-breasted three-button blazer, for a statement-making entry to your party season wardrobe.

The Pretty Green Black Label ‘Wild Honey’ collection is available now at prettygreen.com, priced from £55
