Pepe Jeans To Release New Cambridge University Collection
Pepe Jeans London will deliver another capsule collection with Cambridge University, the brand has confirmed.
The original range, which launched last month, features preppy-inspired cardigans and blazers, as well as rugby inspired polo shirts and t-shirts, all bearing the institution’s logo.
Shortly before signing a deal to produce its own range of watches, Pepe Jeans became the first and only fashion brand to collaborate with the prestigious university on such a project.
Commenting on the unlikely pairing, Gill Luff, Cambridge’s officer for brand, said: “Pepe Jeans is unusual, its clothes are beautifully designed, inclusive and made to high manufacturing standards but they are priced to be worn by ordinary people. This is very important to the university.”
The capsule line is designed with the clothing label’s “kid brother” in mind, offering a younger, casual feel. Inspiration stems from the university, currently ranked seventh in the world by Times Higher Education, and its team sports, predominantly rugby, rowing and cricket.
Items available include the Wastdale sweater, priced at £70. The cream crew neck design features horizontal red and navy stripes, and is completed with a Cambridge crest.
The Sidney quilted gillet, priced at £95, comes in red and includes side pockets in addition to its zip-up and popper-buttoned front.
Prices for the remainder of the collection range from £35 for t-shirts, £65 for shorts and £150 for blazers
Started by three brothers in 1973 as a stall in London’s Portobello Market, Pepe Jeans is now present in over sixty countries across five continents.
Despite the first round dropping just a month ago, it has been announced the update will be on sale from April 28th at Pepe Jeans stores and online at PepeJeans.com.
