Orlebar Brown x Gieves & Hawkes

Classic British tailoring has collided with leisurewear this season, with UK labels Orlebar Brown and Gieves & Hawkes teaming up on capsule collection of practical menswear pieces. Inspired by the travel and adventures of Scottish explorer David Livingstone, the utilitarian range sees Livingstone’s hand-drawn maps reinterpreted across a selection of functional and contemporary pieces. Presented at London Collections: Men last week, the line comprises a pith helmet, safari jacket, multi-pocket utility vest, cargo trousers and desert boots, as well as a selection of T-shirts, swim shorts and accessories, in a fresh palette of navy, grey and limestone. Despite a casual feel underpinning the collection, the “precision and masculinity of Savile Row” practised by Gieves & Hawkes since 1771 has not been forgotten, with select styles embracing a more tailored silhouette. Orlebar Brown’s latest project follows on from a long line of collaborative collections from the London-based brand, most recently working with Emilio Pucci in March of this year. Look out for the full Orlebar Brown x Gieves & Hawkes collection when it launches in March 2016 at both of the brand’s stores and other select stockists.
