Tattooist to the stars, Henry Hate, is turning his ink to the great British shoe in a new collaboration with Oliver Sweeney. The Mexican/American artist is best known for his work on the likes of Amy Winehouse, Alexander McQueen and Boy George. For a limited time only, Hate will take a pair of Oliver Sweeney tan shoes and decorate them with a personalised design that reflects the buyer’s attitude and style. Each pair will also come with a certificate of authentication. Customers can choose from a wide range of styles, including brogues and boots, with the design being tattooed along the upper sole. The partnership also ropes in luxury launch VeryFirstTo.com, through which potential buyers can express their interest in the service. When a shopper registers their interest, they’ll be asked to either provide an image reference or supply the three characteristics that best reflect them. Examples include the owner’s favourite location in the world and the thing – living or not – that gives them the most inspiration. The Soho shop owner admits he’s: “Keen to be injecting some fresh attitude, creativity and originality into men’s footwear. Oliver Sweeney shoes are an unexpected, but stunning canvass to deliver my work on.” In order to express interest in the limited time offer visit VeryFirstTo.com and fill out the form. The service is available across a range of styles with prices start at £995 – £50 going towards The Amy Winehouse Foundation in memory of Hate’s late client.
