Mougin & Piquard x J.Crew Grande Seconde Stainless Steel Watch
Mougin & Piquard x J.Crew Grande Seconde Stainless Steel Watch
J.Crew have revived one of Mougin & Piquard’s most classic timepieces – releasing the Grande Seconde Stainless Steel Watch for spring/summer 2013.
The Grande Seconde manages to combine the simplicity and elegance that is so desirable in an everyday watch, with a quirky and engaging face. Long gone are the days when a huge metallic cuff of a timepiece was acceptable as day-to-day wear.
Current watch design has moved towards a more slimline, classic style, which reflects the current emphasis on timeless, minimalist dressing within menswear. The wrist strap of a watch may seem purely practical but it’s a large part of its overall aesthetic and the Grande Seconde delivers this beautifully with a creamy, hazelnut brown leather and contrasting light stitching. The contrast stitching in particular is a nice touch that helps to draw the eye and ensures such a brilliant piece becomes a feature of any outfit you wear.
When inspecting closer, J.Crew’s re-imagining only becomes stronger. Their quirky reversal of the second count to the outermost circumference of the watch face and the hours closer to the centre makes this watch unique and engaging, whilst the cream backing complements the sturdy steel of the Grande Seconde’s casing perfectly.
This watch asks for incredibly little style advice, as its classic elegance means it will fit seamlessly into your current wardrobe.
It’s now available over at Mr Porter.
