Matthew Steven Maeson is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Matt is currently signed with Atlantic Records. He released two EPs in 2017 and 2018. His debut album, “Bank on the Funeral” was released in 2019. Some of the hits include Hallucinogenics, Cringe, Tribulation, etc.

Matt has some interesting tattoos on his body. Let us take a look at them and the meanings behind them.

1. ‘ALM’ Tattoo

Tattoo: The letters, “ALM” are tattooed on the singer’s right arm, near his elbow. There is also a tattoo on the back of his upper arm that has not been revealed in any of his photos yet.

2. Quote Tattoo

Tattoo: The sides of both his forearms have a quote tattooed on them. His right forearm has the words, “BORN A SINNER” tattooed on it and his left one has the words, “DIE A MARTYR” tattooed on it.

Meaning: The quote on his forearm represents a deep insight into what the singer believes. The tattoo on his forearm was inspired by his uncle who was murdered while serving a troubled adolescent in the Church Ministry. His parents also used to play in heavy metal bands and Matt said, “I’m about making songs that have a positive effect, I ultimately hope to leave a significant legacy like Johnny Cash did. You look at the music world today and you have Future with songs like ‘Double Cups and Molly,’ and what is that about? Is that good for middle-schoolers to listen to? What’s the message? I want to go deeper.”

3. ‘Userx’ Tattoo

Tattoo: Each of Matt’s right hand’s fingers have letters tattooed on them that spell out the word, “USER X”

Meaning: The word represents the name of the band that he has started along with producer Rozwell. He revealed the tattoo on his Instagram along with this caption explaining the meaning behind the name of the band and his tattoo, “I’d wanted to get this tattoo since we started this project 5 years ago but just couldn’t pull the trigger until someone proposed the idea of getting it in the music video for “Above”. The meaning behind it is the same as the meaning behind the USERx project itself. We are all “users” of something. Whether it be substances, religion, politics…etc. Rather than something that pulls us apart, it should be something that unites us. I’ve got problems and you’ve got problems. Comparing those problems bears no fruit. Having compassion and patience with those that I do not align with is a form of love in itself, and this tattoo and project serves as a reminder of that very simple fact.”
