So, what are presets?

Presets are exactly what they sound like. They are a tool within Lightroom which allow you to record one or more changes made to an image and then apply those changes to another image with one click. So, in simpler terms, presets are certain changes that will be applied to an image.

How Are Presets Different From Filters?

I know what you might be thinking: Hold up, aren’t presets just fancy filters? 

Not quite. What’s different about presets and filters is the way that they interact with the colors of the image.

So, in the case of filters, you never actually change the original colors of the image. You simply slap on a filter, which includes hues and tones of different variations. If you want to fine tune some aspects of the image, like increase the amount of blues or yellows of the image, you can’t.
