Le Coq Sportif x Richard Gasquet
French athletic outfitter le coq sportif has teamed up with the country’s top tennis player to launch his dedicated line.
In January, the firm announced a return to the sport after signing up to become Richard Gasquet’s clothing sponsor. Since striking the deal, the world number nine has gone on to beat rivals at both the Australian Open and Davis Cup.
Due to popular demand, designers have now made Gasquet’s range available for general purchase.
“With this line, which is identical to the kit designed for Richard Gasquet, le coq sportif is making its textile expertise available to tennis fanatics of all stripes,” the brand explained.
A spokesperson at the 66-year-old company added: “This partnership honours the elegance of French sport.”
The first of two outfits up for release – hand-crafted in Romilly-sur-Seine, north-central France – includes a polo shirt, shorts, terry cloth wristband and a pair of technical socks.
The Gasquet polo, crafted using a high-performance piqué-effect interlock, wicks away perspiration while helping the body regulate heat. It also combines two different polyester threads: a thicker version inside to absorb perspiration and an ultra-fine microfibre outside to deflect moisture.
The polo is available in either white or royal blue and features a tricolour trim along with a performance flocked logo.
Le coq sportif’s polyester twill shorts have been crafted around functionality on the court. In turn, designers say they are “resistant, breathable, and light”. Just like the line’s polo shirts, the shorts also boast a tricolour trim and the brand’s logo.
Accompanying accessories are rendered in long-fibre combed cotton. As expected, terry cloth wristbands act to absorb perspiration and feature flocked le coq sportif lettering.
