Is The Kingsman Sequel Even More Stylish Than The Original?
Kingsman: The Secret Service was a feast for the sartorially-starved: Mr Porter wardrobe, Colin Firth in three-piece finery, even a gadget-laden armoury disguised as a Savile Row tailor. Despite such a bread basket of cool, it seems the menu’s about to get tastier for the film’s sequel. Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the follow-up to 2014’s smash hit, is set to be even more stylish than the original if the promotional material is anything to go by. Featuring an ensemble cast of Hollywood’s finest, a series of character posters was released earlier this month with the aptly-chosen words ‘suited’ and ‘booted’ splayed across each. Taryn Egerton, once again playing Her Majesty’s unlikeliest spy Eggsy, fills out a jewel tone dinner jacket like no other – the only acceptable statement to make during party season. Then there’s Mark Strong as Merlin, resplendent in town and country checks while Channing Tatum tips his hat to the Deep South in a double-denim Texan tux. And, most excitingly (and despite apparently dying in the original), Colin Firth is set to return – this time in bona fide Mayfair tailoring complete with Del Boy sherpa overcoat. Better-dressed, long-lost evil twin brother? It’s not impossible. Sorry 007; looks like Bond had better make room at the table.
