How to Do the Inversion Method

The inversion method (also known as the Mulholland method) first popped up online in 2013, with users of the method swearing that they saw their hair grow as much as two inches in a week!

The inversion therapy is centered around promoting blood flow to the scalp and stimulating the follicles, which contributes to hair growth. It involves what it says – hanging out in a strange position for a while. But there is more to it than that.

Here are the steps you should follow:

#1: Apply Oil

The first step is grabbing a good-quality hair oil; about 2-4 tablespoons should do, but you can alter this depending on your hair type and thickness. Warm your oil, being careful you don’t make it too hot.

#2: Flip Hair

Now comes the actual inversion. Get into a comfortable position and flip hair upside down! Hang your head downwards in a position that works for you: “sitting” upside down on a sofa, a calming yoga pose, or even a headstand. As long as your head and your hair are upside down for 4 minutes, you’re doing it right.

#3: Rise Slowly

After the 4 minutes are up, very gently and slowly, come back up to your regular position. It is recommended to keep the oil in your hair for up to 3 hours. Or, better still, overnight. You may wrap your hair as you do for hot oil treatment. This allows extra time for your hair, follicles, and scalp to benefit from the oil.
