1. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
This is probably the closest game to Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of backdrop and era. Released in 2013, Gunslinger is the fourth installment in the Call of Juarez series but it departs from the original storyline.
Set in the Wild West, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger follows the main character Silas Greaves, a bounty hunter who tells outrageous stories of his exploits hunting down famous criminals. The appearance of iconic figures like Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the Dalton Gang, and Rustling Bob Bryant gave a lot of hype to the game upon its release. U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower even makes a short cameo.
Like Red Dead Redemption 2’s Dead Eye feature, Gunslinger has the Concentration mode, which allows players to slow down time and kill multiple enemies within a certain period. This installment also adds features like Quick Time Events (QTEs), Sense of Death, and breaking down doors.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger received positive ratings across the board because of its narration, gameplay, and humor. It was the third best-selling game in 2013, only bettered by Far Cry 3 and Terraria.
