Frank Ocean Returns With Luxury Company Homer
It’s not the announcement we were expecting. Frank Ocean, arguably one of the voices of our generation, revealed he’s launching his own luxury company, Homer. While I would have preferred news about a new album or a single at the very least, it looks like Ocean is giving fashion a crack.
In an exclusive interview with the Financial Times, Ocean discussed the reasons for his new endeavor and the origin of the company’s name. “Homer is considered the father of history and history is meant to endure – the same as diamonds and gold – and I know Homer used papyrus, but I’ve always liked the idea of carving history into stone,” Ocean said.
The first collection of products from Homer includes printed silk scarves, a belt buckle, and jewelry pieces handcrafted using 18-karat gold, recycled sterling silver, hand-painted enamel, and American lab-grown diamonds. All products are designed in New York and manufactured in Italy, with the cheapest times going for a touch over $300 and the most expensive – a necklace – selling for an eye-watering $1.89 million.

While you can’t buy any items online (there’s a New York store by appointment), you can visit the Homer website and pursue the collection, with the site soundtracked by Orlando rapper-producer 454’s debut mixtape 4 Real.
