Farrell Saved by Investor
Farrell, the ailing brand started by Robbie Williams, has been saved in a new six-figure deal. Dragon’s Den star Peter Jones is the name behind the rescue, buying 50 per cent of the clothing line, which collapsed earlier this year.
The Angels singer was forced to cease trading in October and close his then pop-up shop in London’s Covent Garden after entering liquidation. However, Jones believes the fortunes of the brand, named after Williams’ grandfather, can be turned around.
The TV tycoon said he “jumped at the chance” to invest, snapping up half the company.
Farrell became known for their timeless British design, offering Savile Row-inspired tailoring – including coats, shirts and accessories – at affordable price points.
Williams’ set up the firm in 2011, enlisting the help of former Burberry Design Director Ben Dickens. Despite appearances in photoshoots and on stage at last year’s Diamond Jubilee, the former Take That star struggled to keep it afloat.
The brand continues to be stocked by the likes of Selfridges and House of Fraser. However, no announcement has been made about the future direction of the line.
Farrell’s AW13 campaign was recently launched and is available to view on their online store.
