Ewan McGregor Plays Fashion Icon Roy Halston Frowick in Netflix's 'Halston'

Netflix has just dropped the trailer for its upcoming miniseries based on the life of American fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick. Halston chronicles the rise and fall of the influential fashionista, with Ewan McGregor playing the title role and Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) on writing and production duties.

The trailer opens with Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence as McGregor stares out into the New York skyline while stating; “I have a vision. I’m going to change the face of American fashion.”

The trailer goes on to show Halston living it up in Studio 54 as the drugs and party lifestyle begins to take its toll. The official synopsis from Netflix reads:

“The limited series ‘Halston’ follows the legendary fashion designer (Ewan McGregor), as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status, and fame, literally defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ‘80’s New York – until a hostile takeover forces him to battle for control of his most precious asset… the name Halston itself.”

The series is directed by Daniel Minahan, who worked with Murphy on the controversial American Crime Story: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace, and also stars Rory Culkin, Krysta Rodriguez, Bill Pullman, and Vera Farmiga.

Halston is set to hit Netflix on May 14.
