Easy Outfit Formulas: Floral Dress + Slouchy Cardigan
Product Info: Dress, Cardigan
You know those days – the ones where you roll out of bed (after hitting the snooze button too many times), stumble into your closet, and have no idea what to wear? Our series Easy Outfit Formulas is here to help! Every other week, I’ll feature two items (which you might own already) that can be paired into outfits for those days when you need some quick and easy inspiration.
I don’t know about you, but where I am, temps are still reaching well into the 80s, so it feels a lot more like summer than fall! So, as I’ve mentioned before, summer-to-fall transitional dressing is on my mind.
One of the best outfit formulas for this time of year is a summery floral dress and a slouchy, knit cardigan – two college girl essentials you probably already have in your closet. You can easily mix and match colors and styles, so this combo is totally foolproof. But just in case you need some inspiration, here are three looks to get you started:

Soft & Feminine
Product Info: Dress – Dorothy Perkins, Cardigan – Modcloth, Sandals – Nordstrom Rack, Tote – Torrid, Necklace – Gilt
If your style is a little more soft and girly, try this sweet look. Pair a lightweight floral maxi dress with a long, heathered blue cardigan, and slip on a pair of ankle strap sandals with metallic details. Accessorize with a delicate pendant necklace, and use a simple faux leather tote to carry your books and supplies for the day.
Florals on Florals
Product Info: Dress – H&M, Cardigan – New Look, Tights – Express, Boots – Go Jane, Bag – Sole Society, Glasses – Urban Outfitters
If the days are a little chillier where you are, use this outfit to transition your summer wardrobe into fall. Start with a short-sleeve floral dress and layer on floral lace tights underneath for an extra pop of print. A draped purple cardigan adds a dark fall hue while keeping you warm. Lace up black boots and a black messenger bag toughen things up a bit, while retro-inspired glasses (prescription or not!) polish off the look with a studious vibe.
