Dr. Martens x Alpha Industries MA-1 Flight Jacket
Selfridges Takes Stock Of Skinhead-Inspired Collaboration
A shared history among subcultures has united Dr. Martens and Alpha Industries for a limited edition collaboration.
The boot brand has teamed up with the American label to recreate the MA-1 flight jacket with original details exclusively for Selfridges.
A lining in Dr Martens’ signature yellow shade has been added to the classic shape, which comes in black or oxblood nylon, alongside other extras including a leather zip pull and heel loop.
According to a statement the “truly retro aesthetic” of the collaboration “celebrates skinheads; the hugely influential fashion tribe of the 1960s and their meticulous attention to detail”.
Alpha Industries first arrived in Britain in the 1960s, when the brand’s flight jackets were imported as American army surplus. During the same decade, Dr. Martens released its first boot style in the UK – the eight-eyelet 1460 style, which is still in production today.
Earlier in the year Dr. Martens teamed up with another name born out of skinhead culture, working with British brand Brutus for a third consecutive season.
The Dr. Martens x Alpha Industries MA-1 flight jacket is available to buy now in the men’s contemporary department at Selfridges, London, and online.
