It was ruled by Bhutanese kings and was a forward post until the 19th century to the Bhutanese Army.

19. Aloobari Gompa Monastery:

Aloobari Gompa Monastery is one of the tourist places to visit in Darjeeling found on the Old Military Road, also called Mag-DhogYolmowa Monastery. It is considered Darjeeling’s oldest monasteries. It was built in 1914 AD and is under the supervision of Sri Sangay Lama. The construction of this Monastery coincided with the first world war. Mag Dhog means “warding off the war,” therefore, this Monastery propagates world peace.
