Daniel Ricciardo Launches Wine Collection
Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo is a vino fan if his newest venture is anything to go by. The McLaren driver known for his love of “shoeys” has gone the classy route and collaborated with South Australian winery St Hugo on a collection of tasty drops.
The DR3 x St Hugo fine wine series will include a Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 and Barossa Shiraz 2015. Both bottles will retail for $65 AU ($50 USD).
“I grew up around wine, it’s in my blood. Along with my Italian heritage and my family’s love of sharing wine, my dad is a bit of a hobby winemaker and I have been surrounded by the passion for wine since I was young,” says Ricciardo.
“And to be able to do this with St Hugo’s Winemaker, Peter Munro, one of Australia’s best winemakers, is a real privilege. It also guarantees the wines will taste great!”
The Cab Sauv has notes of blackcurrant, dark violets, graphite, slate, and oak char, while you’ll find hints of dark fruit and chalky tannins with the Shiraz. Each bottle of this limited series will be numbered and presented in a luxurious gift box.
St Hugo is a popular winery in the highly acclaimed Barossa Valley, and this collaboration with Ricciardo is a great way for the operation to gain more attention at an international level.
“The collaboration is a blend of the love of fine wines and the desire to capture Daniel’s character into the distinctive St Hugo style that represents ‘passion, power, and precision,” says St Hugo Chief Winemaker, Peter Munro.
