Conor McGregor Doubles Wealth with Sale of Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
He might be on a losing streak inside the octagon, but outside Conor McGregor is killing it. The former double champ has also doubled his wealth after selling his shares in Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey.
Named after McGregor’s hometown Crumlin in Dublin, the spirit was launched in 2018 to mixed reviews. Whiskey aficionados hated it, UFC fans loved it. Despite this, Becle saw an opportunity to cash in and acquired a 20 percent stake in the company. This rose to 49 percent in 2020.
Becle has now acquired the remaining 51 percent of Eire Born Spirits – the company founded by McGregor and his manager to produce Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey – taking complete control of the business.
The sale of the highly advertised whiskey brand has reportedly earned the MMA fighter a tasty $155 million USD. If these numbers are correct, McGregor has doubled his net wealth. Not bad for a guy who’s lost two out of his last three fights.
It’s unsure whether McGregor will stay involved with the brand, but I’m sure he’s not fussed after making bank. He’s also probably not concerned with the reviews of the whiskey. As mentioned, Proper No. Twelve hasn’t been received well by spirit connoisseurs but is a big hit with McGregor’s fans. 2020 was apparently the biggest year in the company’s history, which is impressive considering the current predicament the world is in.
