Comme des Garçons Shirt x Erik Schedin Sneakers
CDG Shirt x Erik Schedin
Dover Street Market has taken stock of a new collaboration from Erik Schedin and Japanese brand Comme des Garçons. The Scandinavian designer has teamed up with the firm’s diffusion label ‘Shirt’ to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his low-top sneaker silhouette.
The SS14 collaborative collection consists of three pairs, each with striking hand painted black graphics and a strong emphasis on clean aesthetics.
The original design for Schedin’s minimal sneakers was devised in 2004 and presented as part of his final show at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm.
After ten years of an unfussy approach, the footwear line gained iconic status and is now recognised worldwide for its monochrome colour scheme and lack of logos or labels.
Made from high quality white leather, the shoes are created in Italy and still feature the original sole that was first recommended to the designer when his footwear began to gain popularity.
Schedin’s modest designs are the perfect partner for Comme des Garçons Shirt’s classic style. With over forty years of design experience, a relationship with one of the label’s lines, which also includes Play and Homme Plus, was the logical next step for the Swede to take.
The range seamlessly combines Schedin’s minimalist style with Shirt’s deconstructed patterns to create a sneaker that is understated and modern.
Priced at £225, the commemorative collaboration range is available now exclusively at Dover Street Market’s retail stores and online shop.
