AllSaints Flora Mortis T-Shirts

AllSaints Flora Mortis

Following the success of their AW14 menswear presentation at New York Fashion Week earlier this month, AllSaints has released a capsule t-shirt collection for spring 2014. The line has been inspired by the brand’s previous NYFW outing back in September 2013, where the British label created a multimedia film titled ‘Flora Mortis’ to present its womenswear line. The Flora Mortis project began life last summer when AllSaints created a 6ft-wide floral installation and filmed its blossoming and subsequent decay over a fifteen-day period. The resulting footage was turned into two short films, which were subsequently presented in replica floral installations. One showed the flowers blossoming while the other film was reversed, documenting the flowers’ decay. Wil Beedle, Creative Director of AllSaints, explains: “By reversing the footage of this filmed memento mori we effectively reversed the process of decay, thus demonstrating regeneration and rebirth – things we associate strongly with the current confidence and momentum of AllSaints as a brand.” AllSaints’ in-house artist, Sam Thomas, was present during the presentation; drawing and painting the flowers at different stages of their demise. The capsule collection consists of a single printed t-shirt design, available in black or white colour ways. Constructed from 100-gram cotton jersey, it comes in a crew neck cut and features an illustrated floral design on the front. The Flora Mortis t-shirt collection is available to buy now on AllSaints.com and in selected stores, priced at £40.
