50 of the Rarest Nike Sneakers Are Up for Auction

Sneakerheads will be salivating at the news Sotheby’s is auctioning some of the rarest Nike kicks ever produced. Teaming with Chicago sneaker store English Sole, the collection of 50 shoes is made up of limited editions, one-off creations, and hard-to-find Nike sneakers.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with English Sole to present this carefully curated group of extremely rare sneakers, some of which have never surfaced in a public auction before. The collection is remarkably diverse, and touches everything from music to art, to design and fashion,” said Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear and Modern Collectables.

“From the coveted Air Jordan 1 ‘Shinedown’ to the Air Jordan 1 ‘colette’, the pairs are remarkably rare, and each have their own unique stories… We hope that we are able to honor the unique history of each through this offering.”

Nike Air Force 1 ‘Entourage x Undefeated x Fukijama Gold’

Titled “Scarce Air,” the online auction opened last Friday and runs until Monday, March 29. Some of the exclusive sneakers are already fetching big money.

Along with the previously mentioned Air Jordans, a pair of Kanye West signed Nike Air Yeezy 2 “Mismatch” Sample sneakers (designed before Yeezy signed a deal with adidas) are up for grabs, with the current bid sitting at $35,000 USD. There’s also a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Entourage x Undefeated x Fukijama Gold kicks (created to celebrate the HBO series Entourage) on offer and that has already attracted a tasty bid of $30,000 USD.

Nike Air Jordan IV Retro Travis Scott ‘Purple’

Other scarce sneakers you could add to your collection include three pairs of Jordan IIIs, IXs, and XIs designed by Usher, a signed pair of Air Jordan XXIVs worn by Ray Allen at NBA Media Day on September 30th, 2013, three pairs of Air Jordan IV Retro Eminem kicks (one even comes with a signed Marshall Mathers card), and my personal favorite, a pair of Air Jordan X “History of Flight” shoes.
