The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Could Be One of the Last True Sports Cars

As the electric car slowly takes over the world, the last dance for true sports cars may be on the horizon. But until the journey towards fuel-injected motoring perfection ends, Porsche will always be at the forefront of this, hopefully, never-ending race. Keeping the dream alive for as long as possible, the all-new 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 is nearly a reality.

Offered an exclusive first look at the hands of Carfection, the motoring world finally got to see what Porsche’s Andreas Preuninger had been hyping up for so long.

Head of GT at Porsche, the Germans are showing off once again with the 992-generation GT3. Powering along the road, its engine sounds immaculate, especially with the new ‘swan-neck’ rear spoiler, which will remove turbulence underneath the wing.

The look and feel of the 911 may just include a new generation of lightweight wheels also. Teased towards the end of the video, Preuninger gives us a look under the covers of the mysterious Porsche GT car sitting in the hall. Only revealing the lower part of the front wheel, we receive only a brief glimpse at the Porsche’s bright blue rim lipped wheels.

While the overall design of the 911 GT3 isn’t as mysterious as other car reveals, Preuninge did confirm its internals will feature the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine. It will also be available with both a manual and PDK transmission, as well as upgrades from the previous GT3 RS.

Other features highlighted in the video include the redesigned wing and the rear diffuser, in addition to the curb weight. Tipping the scale at 1,430 kg (3,152 pounds) with all the fluids, the 992-gen 911 GT3 is similar to its predecessor, even if it is slightly bigger.

Even though Preuninger did not guide us through the interior features of the 911 GT3, we still have access to some sneaky leaked photos. Revealing the upgraded dashboard design, which appears remarkably similar to the 911 Carrera and Turbo models, GT3 branding covers the instrument cluster displays, while a ‘Race-Tex’ suede wraps the steering wheel.
