Here is something sure to get racing fans excited. A 1996 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI driven during the 1996 International Touring Car season is up for auction. Between 1992 and 1996 the 155 dominated the ITC competition and help revolutionize the competition.

This particular model was driven by Nicola Larini during the 1996 ITC Season with wins at Mugello and Interlagos. The touring car contains a steel tube frame and reinforced carbon fiber safety cell wrapped in thin steel. It has an adjustable, F1-derived inboard suspension system, ventilated brakes, and a new paddle-operated, six-speed semi-sequential transaxle. It also features ABS, traction control, and four-wheel drive stability features.

Under the hood is a redesigned lightweight “690RC” engine. This beastly V6 motor boasts 490 horsepower and 11,900 rpm, making it incredibly quick. It can reach 0-62 in 2.5 seconds and has been recorded doing over 186 mph on the straights of numerous racetracks across Europe.

According to RM Sotheby’s, the 155 ITC achieved “pole position in half of the remaining rounds, secured nine fastest lap awards, and won eight of the remaining 14 races outright,” helping Alfa Romeo surpass Mercedes-Benz on the constructor points ladder.

The 1996 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI comes with official documentation and is up for auction on June 15 with a reserve of between $853,000 and $975,000.
