Converse Cons Trainers: Spring 2014 Collection

Converse Releases New ‘Cons’ Collection

Converse has released its spring collection, refreshing some of its most iconic designs. The Cons range features updated Star Player and Aero Jam models, along with two new sports-influenced designs: Star Player Plus and Star Player Skate. For 2014, Converse has combined the company’s well-known silhouettes with bold new colours and eye-catching details. Reflecting modern street culture, the line also introduces established designs to its skateboarding range. Founded in 1908, Converse considers itself to be “America’s original sport’s company”. The brand’s famous Chuck Star All Star basketball trainers once dominated the game, before becoming a part of everyday wear. Following financial difficulties, the company filed for bankruptcy in 2001 – after which it was bought out by US firm Nike in 2003. With its latest SS14 updates, Converse hopes to enhance the aesthetic and performance ability of its name, recreating 1990s street style with a modern twist. The brand also recently released a stop frame animation video, created in partnership with Studio Heiss and Jelly Kitchen, to promote the on-going #ChuckHack project on Google+. Converse’s Cons collection is available to buy now in select UK shoe and sports retailers. The full range, including the Aero Jam Og (£99.99), can also be found online at Converse.com.
